I almost titled this blog disappointed. It wouldn’t have been completely accurate. I am disappointed with the number of paintings I completed this month and the number of drawings and portraits I worked on, but it was such a good month filled with family and friends that I couldn’t possibly be disappointed with August!
September and October will be even busier with even bigger celebrations! My take away (again, I’ve thought this once or twice before) is that I have to get comfortable drawing and painting in front of other people. Easy to say, so so so hard to do.
The last day of the month seems like a good day to hold myself accountable for tracking any progress on portraits and figures.
I did not get as many done as I wanted, and I don’t see any progress. My faces are still very flat and don’t look the person I am drawing, but what did I really expect with 5 drawings.
It’s not a new challenge, but I’m excited to do this challenge with 4 other pastel artists this month. Excited about the community of artists we are building and sharing challenges, successes, failures and lessons learned.
Yesterday I challenged myself with faces. My theme for 2017. My goal is one face/figure painting a week. Hopefully when we get to this time in 2018 I will have a lot more confidence with faces and figures!
I have a lot to learn, but I kinda like the spunk these three seem to have!
