My daughter-in-law bought me a daily photo book. It is one that you actually print out the photos and paste them in a paper book! It is beautiful, and I have truly enjoyed filling it in everyday.
Let’s face it, I know I am lucky, being able to live my creative life, but there is a lot of pressure that comes along with that. I need to be painting everyday, working out everyday, cooking a wonderful, healthy, low calorie dinner for my husband every night, and why is my house such a mess! I should have time to be skinny, available for family and friends, and every art club in a 50 mile radius! I was putting so much pressure on myself to be perfect that I wasn’t having fun. The first thought in my head as I rolled out of bed was ‘I have to do better tomorrow’ – why would anyone get up in the morning if that was their first thought?
The photo book has given me a chance each day to breath, appreciate what I do, what I have, and the love surrounding me. Slowly I am starting to be nicer to myself, I want to get up in the morning and I want to be in my studio again.
The idea of doing this here is that I can post what I am grateful for, uplifting quotes, what I have accomplished, etc. I hope to keep this going for the long haul. It is worth it for my sanity and creativity!
