Pulled this guy off of pexels.com and used a grid. Using someone I didn’t know made this less precious to paint, and the grid definitely helped keep his features where they were supposed to be. I am not sure that if you knew him you would recognize him here, but good practice and I have more ready to go.
After I painted him, I drew him without a grid. I was pleased with this rendering.
I began a Love the Process challenge 13 days ago. It is a challenge to create art everyday, but love creating, not the product. It has been an incredibly fun and freeing challenge so far. It is my goal to make sure that continues, and hopefully my skills will improve along the way too!
Here are some of the pieces I have created.
I am posting my artwork everyday at https://www.instagram.com/stacymayou/
The only way to improve is to produce… and track any progress.
So here we are, still struggling with portraits, tracking has officially begun!
Excited for my figure drawing class tonight at the Farmington Valley Arts Center.
Not much time to paint over the weekend, but I was able to get my hands dirty today!
Added some contrast to my birds
I got to redo the landscape from last week. Did it much larger. Not my favorite. On my list to do it one more time!
Then I played with a face! I’ve been looking at this gorgeous face in this position a lot the last few months and needed to paint it!
Happiness is being at the easel!
Keeping with my 2017 theme of faces and figures I thought I’d take a stab at a face in a photo I found laying around the house!
Long way to go with faces, but this face is gorgeous even crooked!
