I’ve never been the bird watching sort, but they are amazing creatures. My grandfather taught me to highly regard them for their ability to fly – his very favorite thing to do. I remember being very young, sitting outside with him, he was looking up and whistling to the birds flying by.
At the Little White House we were surrounded by birds in the spring, we watched them build nests, hatch eggs and then they were gone. It was so quiet without them. We also saw two nests lost to predators, that’s when I started to pay more attention to them.
